To provide photo services to Natives who need photos, but cannot afford to pay a photographer.
As an artist, I am looking to refine my photography portfolio and combine present day aesthetics with Native culture while focusing on the relationship between the land, water & sky. I will also focus on improving my skills/technique with color grading, negative space composition, and light.
These sessions are collaborative and guided by your comfort and identity. Whether in regalia, casual wear, or settings meaningful to you, the goal is to represent you and your interaction with the land. I believe in the power of imagery to uplift stories and tradition.
Must be in need of a photo session.
Must be Native
Must live near Olympia, WA area or be willing to travel to Olympia.
Pay for own parking where needed: Tolmie (Discovery pass) or Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge (National Parks Pass)
Sessions will be based around my availability. I am hoping to do at least two a month. Sessions will require collaborative planning, so if selected I do ask that you respond and communicate. The session will be of no cost to you (outside of parking and paying for your own transportation).
Each session will require a photography contract.

Yá'át'ééh (hello).
My name is Arlin Yazzie.
I am Diné (Navajo) and based in Olympia, Washington. I am an artist, mama, wife, and data nerd. I graduated with a degree in Fine Art. My focus was in two dimensional art: drawing portraiture, black and white film photography, and oil painting. Being Native has always played a crucial role in the art I create. My photos sessions are based on documenting shared moments of you and your family. Natives are storytellers, so let's tell your story.
Will this be indoor or outdoor?
Outdoor. Given the weather in the PNW, if it's super rainy we will have to reschedule.
How long will the sessions be?
Sessions will vary depending on the location. Some locations will require an accessible walk.
I recommend starting in your traditional dress/regalia/formal wear. I will bring a little pop up tent for changing. I also recommend bringing any props or sentimental items you would like to be photographed with.
